This site earns money when people sign up at casinos. That makes this page awkward to write honestly, so let me be direct: gambling is entertainment that costs money, and the maths guarantees that most people lose over time. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling something.
The honest maths
Every casino game has a built-in house edge. A slot with a 96% return-to-player keeps around 4% of everything staked, on average, forever. That average is measured over millions of spins — which is why a single session can look like anything at all.
Here’s the part that catches people out. At 96.5% RTP with a €200 bankroll and 500 spins at €1, roughly a third of sessions finish in profit and two-thirds finish down, with the typical session ending well below where it started. The headline RTP figure hides that completely.

- Betting more than you can comfortably lose, or money meant for something else
- Chasing losses — increasing stakes to recover what’s gone
- Borrowing money, selling things, or using credit to gamble
- Lying about how much or how often you play
- Gambling to escape stress, boredom, anxiety or low mood
- Feeling restless or irritable when you try to cut down
- Neglecting work, study, family or friendships
- Relief rather than enjoyment when you win
None of these require a diagnosis to act on. If this list is uncomfortable to read, that’s worth paying attention to.
Practical things that work
- Set a deposit limit before you play, at the casino, not in your head. Every licensed operator offers them. A limit you set in advance is binding in a way a plan isn’t.
- Set a time limit too. Session length correlates with losses more than most people expect.
- Never gamble with borrowed money or a credit card.
- Don’t gamble to fix a financial problem. It reliably makes it worse.
- Take the money out when you win. Balances left in an account tend to get played back.
- Don’t drink and gamble.
- Use cooling-off and self-exclusion. Every reputable casino offers both. Using them is not an admission of anything.
