What is Ortel?

Ortel is a typical SIM only provider that puts you in control. Only pay for what you use and top up your credit only when you need it with Ortel calling credit. The great thing about calling credit and topping up is that you only pay for what you use and top up if you find it necessary.

You can buy Ortel calling credit at various places. For physical stores, think of Albert Heijn, Jumbo, PostNL, MediaMarkt, Shell, Texaco, The Phone House, Primera and AKO.

It is not a large provider, but online you will find many sites where you can obtain Ortel calling credit. Consider, for example, gsmshop.nl.

How can I top up Ortel calling credit? Fortunately that is very simple. To top up your Ortel SIM, first buy a voucher of the amount with which you want to top up your credit (minimum EUR 5). As soon as you receive your unique code, call the number you can find on your voucher, follow the instructions and enter your Ortel code.

You can also top up your Ortel calling credit easily and securely online:

  2. Enter your mobile number
  3. Indicate with which balance you want to top up your credit, this is possible from 5 to 40 euros. In addition, you can also buy a data monthly bundle for mobile internet (you can read that below).
  4. Select the payment method (iDeal)
  5. Follow the further instructions to checkout.
  6. Your top-up balance is immediately active afterwards.

Make sure that you check in advance, when purchasing a calling credit voucher, whether you can also exchange your voucher online.

How can you order prepaid mobile internet?

This can be done in two ways. On the one hand, you can buy mobile internet online. On the other hand, you can activate mobile internet, whereby the balance of your calling credit will be debited.

Order mobile internet online: If you buy your mobile internet online, you can only opt for a 1GB data monthly bundle (which is therefore valid for 30 days.

  1. Enter your mobile number
  2. Select the payment method (iDeal or credit card).
  3. Follow the further instructions to checkout.
  4. Your mobile internet bundle is then immediately active.

Activate mobile internet: If you want to activate mobile internet from your calling credit, you can choose between the bundles 150MB (valid for 7 days), 1GB and 3GB (valid for 30 days each).

  1. Activate the bundle by entering a code on your phone.
  2. The price of the bundle is therefore deducted from your calling credit.
  3. Your mobile internet bundle is then immediately active.

Ortel rates

Ortel claims to be a prepaid provider of cheap national and international calls. What does that mean in euros?

  • National: calls to fixed lines 15 ct., calls to mobile lines 25 ct., SMS 19 ct., 1 euro / MB.
  • International: calls to fixed lines  from 19 ct, calls to mobile lines from 35 ct, text from 19 ct.
  • Ortel to Ortel: national calls, free calls for the first 30 minutes (you pay a starting rate).

You can top up your calling credit or buy a bundle. The costs for this are as follows:

  • Ortel 5 euros
  • Ortel 10 euros
  • Ortel 20 euros
  • Ortel 40 euros
  • Ortel 1 GB data monthly bundle

You can also activate mobile internet from your calling credit. The costs of these bundles are:

  • EUR 5 for 150 Mb (valid for 7 days)
  • EUR 10 for 1 GB (valid for 30 days)
  • EUR 20 for 3 GB (valid for 30 days)

How do I request an Ortel SIM card?

You can’t do anything without a SIM card. A SIM card ensures that a connection is established between your phone and the network.

An Ortel SIM card is not always available online. Keep an eye out for online promotions, where you sometimes get free SIM cards.

What network is Ortel on?

Like Lebara and Lycamobile, for example, Ortel is an MVNO, which means that Ortel does not have its own communication network, but sells mobile telephony under its own brand name via the communication network of another operator. Ortel is therefore a provider of mobile telecommunications and uses KPN’s premium (4G) network. In addition, Ortel is part of KPN.
